If you are looking for books for boys of this sort….
or this sort…
You’re in the right place!
When my oldest boy started reading, I immediately started compiling lists of books that he liked. I wanted to keep it on hand for my second boy who would be close behind him. It’s been a good reference list for me, and I know there’s probably lots of moms out there who are looking for ways to get their super-hero, back yard pirate, animal lover type to want to read. So, the list of books you’ll find here is filled with animal stories, adventure stories, mystery, and excitement. Stuff that makes a second grade boy want to turn another page.
How to use this list
I recommend printing this list and taking it with you to the library. You could also look these books up on your library’s website/online catalogue. If you just want to buy for keeps, you could also take this list to Amazon or Barnes and Nobles.
Need More Suggestions?
This list is simply meant to get you started. It has some great suggestions, but is by no means exhaustive. If your little guy is interested in certain topics, then I would suggest doing a keyword search on your libraries catalogue for that topic (be sure to filter by reading level). You can get many, great book suggestions this way for topics he may love (ie: sharks, pirates, dogs, horses, bugs, countries of the world, holidays ect…)
Need More Grade Levels?
You can also check out the other posts in this series. I currently have lists published for Kindergarten and First Grade. Third and Fourth Grade will be coming soon!
Here it is!
